A floating crane is a lifting device installed on the deck of a floating vessel. It relies on the buoyancy of the floating vessel to stay afloat on the water surface, enabling overwater lifting and repositioning operations.
The workflow of a floating crane to complete a full cargo lifting operation is as follows:
Preparation: Start the power system. The operator sets parameters and selects the working mode through the PLC control system and touch screen, and confirms that safety conditions such as wind speed and vessel attitude meet the requirements.
Travel and positioning: A self-propelled floating crane travels to the working area under its own power, while a non-self-propelled floating crane is towed to the working location by a tugboat. Upon arrival, the vessel position is adjusted using ship shifting winches or anchor winches to align the hook with the loading/unloading point or the lifting target.
Luffing and alignment: Operate the luffing mechanism to change the boom angle by paying out or hauling in the luffing winch, adjusting the hook to be directly above the target position.
Lowering and lifting: The hoisting mechanism releases the wire rope to lower the hook down to the cargo. The operator controls the forward and reverse rotation of the hoist motor through the combined control console to achieve precise raising and lowering of the hook.
Slewing and transferring: After lifting the heavy object, the slewing mechanism drives the upper structure of the crane to rotate horizontally, transferring the cargo from its original position to above the target position.
Lowering and unloading: Release the hook through the hoisting mechanism to complete cargo unloading.
Reset or vessel repositioning: Return the empty hook to its initial position. If the next operation is required, repeat the above steps.

Throughout the entire operation, the electrical control system enables coordinated actions of the hoisting, luffing, slewing, and rigging closure mechanisms. Each part maintains precise coordination through variable frequency speed control and PLC control, while the safety protection system continuously monitors and ensures operational safety.
